"On the Spiritual path, the first step is selfless service.

Through selfless service, one can realize the Divinity that is all this creation."

- Sathya Sai Baba (Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 15 Ch. 31 November 19, 1981)

Why Service?

“The Sathya Sai Organisation has laid down seva as sadhana, in order to uproot from your mind the ego. So, do not pay heed to what others might say when you engage in service activities. When you are doing good acts, why hesitate, why feel ashamed, why fear? Let Compassion and Sacrifice be your two eyes; let Egolessness be your breath and Love be your tongue. Let Peace reverberate in your ears. These are the five vital elements you have to live upon. God will not ask you, when and where did you do service? He will ask, "With what motive did you do it? What was the intention that prompted you?" You may weigh the seva and boast of its quantity. But, God seeks quality, the quality of the heart, the purity of the mind, the holiness of the motive.”

-Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Nov 19, 1981

Overview

  • Sandwich service - Prepare sandwiches and drop them off at shelter homes in downtown Houston along with fruits & other healthy snack items.

  • Sai Breakfast Service - Distribute breakfast items to shelter homes in downtown Houston.

  • JDC service - Mentor kids to equip them with basic life skills along with education on social behavior.

  • Nursing home - Pre-Covid this service activity involved playing games like bingo with the residents in the nursing home & distributing them essential items and thoughtful gifts. Due to safety reasons we now drop off essential items.

  • Hope impact of Katy - We prepare home cooked meals and serve dinner for the homeless that come to the church in Katy, TX.

  • Refugee service - Serve the incoming refugee population by providing the families with groceries, computer education, tutoring English and any other immediate need that arises.

  • Continuous service for Sai Baba’s Birthday -

As a center, we select one type of service activity and participate in that activity as a collective family for the same number of days as the birthday year.
