The Power of Women
"Past, present or future, for all time, women are the backbone of progress, the heart of the nation, the very breath. They play the chief role in the dharma of life here below, a key role that is charged with holiness. the woman's role is to lay down the canons of rightness and morality"
- Dharma Vahini chapter 5
"A woman has 7 faculties: Satya (truth), Prema (Love), Dharma (right conduct), Thyaga (sacrifice), Sahana (Tolerance), Sahanubhuti (compassion) and Ananda (bliss). A woman is the combination of all these 7 faculties. We touched on how Devotion can be Pure Love- For this we had several Swami’s quotes to ponder on, talked about how Faith is the foundation, how devotion leads to Fruitfulness, and how love and service are interconnected.

Ask Akka!
How can we effectively share information and fight the idea that health concerns are taboo?
This new year we are excited to launch Ask Akka, an online platform to break down cultural barriers and improve health literacy among South Asian women. This is a judgment free space to ask medical questions anonymously and receive guidance from a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist.
The idea to improve our community’s overall health literacy was inspired by SSE students. Many of their health questions had been unanswered due to a lack of openness in the community. Thus, Ask Akka was born. Through this platform, the hope is to create sisterhood in this community and to encourage everyone to live their healthiest, most empowered lives.
Feel free to email any women's health related questions to: ask.akka01@gmail.com
Look out for monthly episodes, starting in January 2024!
